Cycloramic Uses Your iPhone 5′s Vibrations to Spin Around in a Circle

Cycloramic is a relatively new app that completely repurposes one of the components in your iPhone 5 — the vibration motor. Rather than just using it to buzz in your pocket, Cycloramic uses the motor to power 360° panoramic video capture, but it’ll only work with the iPhone 5.

You simply set your iPhone 5 upright on a hard smooth surface, and the vibrations cause it to rotate in a circle, capturing a panoramic video.

It’s a bit hard to judge how well it works, some commenters on other sites don’t seem to have much luck with it, and others say it works perfectly. What’s obviously noticeably missing at this point is panoramic photos — but according to Cycloramic on YouTube, that’ll be in the next update.

Sure, it’s a gimmick, but it’s a pretty cool one for just $0.99.
