Cricket First US Wireless Carrier To Offer Pre-Paid iPhone Plans

Cricket will become the first US carrier to offer the iPhone under a pre-paid plan starting on June 22nd. The wireless provider will offer both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. The plans are priced at $55 per month, offering customers unlimited voice, text and data.

TNW points out that the unlimited data plan follows the recent trend of wireless carriers redefinition of the word ‘unlimited’. Under the Cricket plan, customers will be capped at 2.3GB per month.

As for phone availability, customers will have a choice between 16GB models of either the  iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.  The 16GB iPhone 4 will be priced at $399.99 and the 16GB iPhone 4S will run $499.99.

Cricket is available in 60 markets and they have upwards of 6.2 million customers. Current US wireless providers offer similar models at a subsidized price of $99.99 for the iPhone 4 and $199.99 for the iPhone 4S.
