Clearing Up Confusion Over Apple’s Lightning Adapter Capabilities

There’s been some confusion regarding Apple’s Lightning Adapter that allows you to use existing accessories with the new iPhone 5. The paltry product description on Apple’s Store is partly to blame. It states that Video and iPod Out are not supported with the connector. Until recently, iPod was the name the Music app on the iPhone. This led many to believe that perhaps this new $29 adapter wouldn’t support audio out, thereby rendering your expensive audio docks useless. That’s not the case.

Until this thing ships, which won’t be until October, there is no guarantee that it will work with your accessory. If you’ve invested money in an expensive audio dock or have hard wired audio out to your vehicle, by all accounts it should work. Those of you with BMW’s might not be too thrilled. Then again, you’re driving a BMW, so it’s not all bad.
