Somehow, one website managed to grab two insane scoops. They’ve obtained leaked components that hint at the size and shape of both the new iPhone and the iPad Mini.
The folks at GottaBeMobile have somehow obtained what seems to be a plastic mold of the iPad Mini, which appears to be not only smaller than the current edition, but notably thinner, too. If this is legit, it also features a smaller dock connector, like that rumored for the next iPhone, and two speakers rather than one.
The same site also has a metal mockup of the iPhone 5, which they’re claiming is an engineering sample. Alternatively, it could be again a case making mold, but regardless, it appears to be taller and thinner than the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.
We’re not sure of the provenance of either of these items, and it does seem fortuitous that the same site has nabbed them both. However, neither is peculiar enough that you would assume them to be automatically fake. One thing to keep in mind is that if these do come from casemakers, which very well may be the case, they could very well simply be based on the same rumors and information as everyone else sees. Apple can be very quiet about handing out design specs in advance of launch.
