Chinese Boy Sells Kidney For iPad, iPhone

Reuters is reporting that five people in China have been charged for harvesting a teenager’s kidney, which he offered up to get money for an iPhone and iPad. Apparently, the unnamed 17-year old is from Anhui, one of China’s poorest provinces, and was given 22,000 yuan (around $3,500) for the transplant. Since having the kidney removed, he has suffered renal deficiency, and getting worse.

The five who performed and arranged the procedure have been charged with intentional injury, which includes the surgeon who performed the removal. It’s alleged one of the defendants received 220,000 yuan (approximately $35,000) to arrange the transplant, of which 1/10 went to the boy, and the rest was split with the group.

It’s not known who received the organ.

Kids, don’t sell your internal organs for money, you need those things. They make your body work. Except the appendix, if you can get anything for that, go for it.
