Designer Joelle Aeschlimann has created a concept that brings the hand-cranked wonder of the music box to the iPad. These wooden columns each have rubber contacts at the bottom in a unique pattern. When placed on the iPad, the device associates the contact pattern with a tune, and then plays to the speed that they are rotated via hand-crank.
As you can see from the video, not only does each box play a different tune, but has accompanying animations, that work at the speed of the hand crank.
So, how long do you think it’ll be before we see something like this on Kickstarter? Because I can’t help but thing that this is a very cool idea.
