I tried this case out before settling on the Contour Black Hardshell for the 3G. I have to say that this case disappointed me somewhat.

As far as clear cases go, they are purchased to show off the iPhone in all its glory. I have a white 16 GB, so I wanted to do just that. It did a good job of that for the first couple of days. However, small stratches began to show up after a couple days of normal use, causing the iPhone itself to look less "dazzling." In a clear case, you want BOTH durability and a spotlight placed on the item being protected. I felt as though the spotlight dimmed with every scratch on the case.

The silicone button covers for the sleep/wake button and the volume buttons lacked sensitivity. The sleep/wake was okay, but the volume really had to be pressed down in order to actually turn the volume up or down. The ringer switch has the same problem as the Hardcase from Contour...when in the silent position, it rests right against the case itself. The ringer is easy to turn off...much harder to turn on. A fingernail must be used in order to turn the switch back on. Not too bad, but pretty annoying.

Overall a good case, but others are better.

Great case. Better than the one for the first one

This is my 4th Contour product. I have the Showcase for my iPod and I had the iSee and Showcase for my first iPhone. Since the Showcase is not out yet for the 3G iPhone I went with this one. It fits well and hasn't come apart in the few weeks I've had it. The covers for the Power and Volume buttons are kind of hard to push. Also, going from vibrate to ring I have to use my pinky to use the switch. Still, I like that I can actually see my phone and it is protected. Cases are very subjective, but I've always like Contour's products.
