Despite some sources to the contrary, the rumored Apple hardware update has happened! Freshly available a new range of Mac Minis, iMacs, a new Macbook and the Multitouch Might Mouse.
Magic Mouse: Has an aluminum base, with a soom multi-touch surface, which apparently has a separate range of gestures to the usual touch pad. It allows vertical, horizontal and diagonal scrolling using a single finger, and forward and backward using two fingers. The Mouse is $69, and uses AA batteries which Apple claims will last four months

MacBook: The white MacBook has a $999 sticker price, with a multitouch trackpad, LED screen, unibody construction, rubberized bottom, 2.26GHz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, and 13-inch screen. Apple has moved to a built-in batter, like the MacBook Pros, which they are stating gives 7 hours of use. This was an unpopular move on the higher end laptops, and we doubt it will go over well here, either.

iMacs: There are four new models, all with 16:9 widescreen displays. They have a new unibody construction, with edge glass like the MacBook Pro. SD ports are included in all units, and they will ship with the new multitouch Magic Mouse. One of the models uses a quad-core Intel i5, which can be upgraded to an i7.

The first has a 21.5-inch, 1920×1080 display; 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB Ram, 500GB HD, SD card slot. RRP $1,199. 1TB version for $1,499
27-inch, 3560×1440 display. 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB RAM, 1TB HD. $1,799
27-inch, 3560×1440 display. 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 quad-core processor, 4GB RAM, 1TB HD. $1,799. Can be built to order with a a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core processor.
Mac Minis: The Mac Minis have finally received a substantial update. The most obvious change, is the introduction of a $999 model without an optical drive, instead using two 500GB hard drives, and comes bundled with Snow Leopard Server. There are also two upgraded models, that include the traditional SuperDrive.

2.26 GHz, 160GB, 2GB RAM, with SuperDrive, $599
2.53 GHz, 320GB, 4GB RAM, with SuperDrive $799
2.53 GHz, 2x500GB, 4GB RAM, no optical drive $999
Update: Apple have also tweaked the AirPort Extreme base station and Time Capsule with larger antennae, which is meant to boost range and speed significantly. The Apple remote has been given a cosmetic boost, and is now available in aluminum.
