One day before Apple’s iPhone 4 press conference, Bloomberg is reporting that an Apple senior antenna engineer voiced concern to Steve Jobs that the antenna design of the iPhone 4 could lead to dropped calls. Ruben Caballero, a senior engineer and antenna expert, informed Jobs and Apple management early in the design phase, that the antenna design of the iPhone 4 may lead to reception problems. Bloomberg also notes that a carrier partner also voiced concerns prior to the June 24th release.
The identity of the source is unknown. Apple has declined comment and would not make Caballero available for comment.

If true (and Bloomberg is pretty legitimate), that’s an incredibly damning indictment.
Wow… and all hell will break loose. They better have a good solution to this one.
about that recall…
Depending on tomorrows outcome of the press conference we could see a subpoena down the road. Especially from the firm that launched the class action. Hate to see this all happen but Apple has been dreadful in their reactions thus far.
They better be doing something but stating there is no problem with the reception because it deffinately is. Recall is an answer but who wants to stay in countless line near Apple store? Not me. I have more important stuff to do. The only how it would work for me Apple can replace my iPhone by mail.
I think they should handle a recall just like they handle warranty work. Mail in your phone and have them ship you a replacement. I can always use my old one for a day or two during the swap process.
If recall really gonna happen. They should just mail us the new one and we will mail the old one back. Not everyone still have the old phone with them.
