Google has picked up VoIP company Gizmo5, for a reported $30 million, and the general discussion seems to be that this may be a way to expand the power of Google Voice. Presently, Google Voice only works for phones, where integrating with Gizmo5 gives the potential for desktop VoIP calls with your Google Voice number. According to TechCrunch, who broke the story, Gizmo5 could be used to glue together Google Voice and Google Talk, and bring together the functionality of both to your desktop.
