AT&T’s Network Woes May Be Self-inflicted
Hold on to your hats, cats, because this is about to get complicated. Brough Turner wrote a very interesting article about the often abysmal speeds of AT&T’s 3G network, and it how may be due how they have it configured. While the technical aspect is a touch beyond me, here’s the gist: AT&T’s buffering system (to prevent overloads due to traffic bursts) is WAY too protective, so it prevents data loss, but sometimes gives pings as slow as 8 seconds. So blaming the slow speed on iPhone users may be entirely wrong. Any technical folks want to weigh in on this, and give us a TL;DR?
