Behind the Scenes at Apple Stores Show They’re No Better Than Anywhere Else

Gizmodo has put together an interesting piece, compiling stories of destruction, theft, drugs, and other general unpleasantness going on in the back rooms of Apple Stores around the country. Remember that video of Walmart employees trashing iPads? Much like that.

As sad and disheartening as all the responses are, they’re not that unusual. It’s the same sort of unfortunate shenanigans that we’ve seen reported at big retail operations the country over — trashing gear, bilking customers, and the occasional bit of theft of data. It’s disgusting, and unfortunately, all too common.

However, you can at least take heart from the number of commenters who have worked for Apple Stores, and say that things like that never happened. It appears to boil down a lot to individual managers at individual stores.

While anyone who has worked in retail for any amount of time (I did my stint in High School and University) will be able to report pretty similar goings on, you’d hope somewhere as generally well put together as an Apple Store would be able to keep a lid on such behavior. And who knows, maybe after this they will.
