AT&T Reportedly Unlocking In-Contract iPhone For Military

MacRumors is reporting that AT&T is not just unlocking the iPhone for those of us off contract, but also for members of the military who are deployed. Apparently, carriers are required by law to suspend contracts without penalty for service members who are deployed — after all, it would be bizarre for them to have to pay to end their contract early as they’re being shipped overseas.

What is new, is that AT&T is allegedly going beyond this, and unlocking the device while still on contract, so that people can keep using their iPhones in another country. According to the report, “deployed soldiers, airmen, sailors, and Marines should contact AT&T customer service to get more information about having their iPhones unlocked.”
