The fine folks at PCWorld have put together a large, nationwide look at 3G and 4G wireless speeds, and the results are pertinent to anyone thinking of buying the next iPhone, whatever it may be. Because, let’s face it, the new iPhone will be 4G enabled, and you want to know how to get the best possible connection speed.
According to the survey, T-Mobile was the big winner in 3G, and AT&T took second place, but over with 4G connections AT&T came out on top. That’s right, over 11 cities, AT&T’s 4G speeds average 9.12Mbps, with Verizon hitting 7.35. Interestingly, Verizon had better upload rates, but I’m guessing for the majority of people, download is more important.
So if you’re going to buy a new 4G iPhone when it comes out, think about AT&T. With the highest 4G speed, and second place in 3G, it seems a pretty solid option.
