Steve Jobs isn't officially expected back at Apple until later this month, but he apparently made an appearance at the offices of Apple yesterday afternoon for a meeting. Reports say Steve looked to be in "good shape". Steve Wozniak was quoted yesterday as saying Jobs sounded, "healthy, energetic". Jobs isn't expected at WWDC, but don't be suprised if the "one more thing" at WWDC is Jobs himself.

For months now, the prevailing thought was that Apple would use their Worldwide Developer's Conference to introduce a new iPhone. It's become a yearly ritual of sorts, so will Apple buck the trend? Analyst Gene Munster seems to think so, suggesting Apple will shift the focus to Snow Leopard, the new version of OS X.

Steve Jobs today issued a memo to Apple employees indicating he would be taking a medical leave of absence from Apple until June because of health issues.  Jobs didn't make his customary keynote address at Macworld, prompting some reports that his health was declining. This in turn prompted an open letter from Steve Jobs to the Apple community which explained that Jobs was spending time with his family and was suffering from a hormonal imbalance. Jobs sent the following memo to Apple employees informing them of his decision to take a medical leave until June of this year.

Gizmodo is reporting that Steve Jobs health is "rapidly declining" and that is the reason behind Macworld and Jobs keynote cancellations. According to their source:

Apple has just put out a press release announcing this year is the last year the company will exhibit at Macworld. Moreover, there will not be a final "one more thing" from Steve Jobs, who will not be delivering the keynote. In his stead, Phil Schiller will take over keynote duties.

Apple has posted a streaming video of today's October 2008 event featuring a keynote by Steve Jobs and the introduction of new MacBook notebooks. The company has also posted a MacBook video that highlights the re-engineering that went into design the "uni-body" MacBook.
