In a move that can be deemed surprising to say the least, French mobile carrier Orange has admitted to capping the data speed of the iPhone 3G to 384kbps. No reason was given, but Orange will increase the speed to 1 mbps starting on September 15th. The current speed is one quarter of the potential. So, remind me why someone in France would want to upgrade to the iPhone 3G before mid-September?
