A Chinese wholesaler who sells assorted parts for devices, including previous iPhones, is offering parts for the yet-to-be released or announced third generation iPhone. The website is offering up the 3rd generation 2009 LCD Screen and 3rd generation iPhone bezel. In the listings, the site proudly exclaims, "This is a great honor for China Ontrade to be the first to supply iPhone 3Gen 2009 parts."

Mike Abramsky, an analyst for RBC Capital, believes that Apple could offer a $99 iPhone if the company is able to leverage its component and manufacturing effeciencies. This is not the first time we've heard of a $99 price point and would certainly help fight potential upstarts like the Palm Pre.
Abramsky believes Apple will use WWDC to announce the 16GB and 32GB next generation iPhone models that have been widely rumored. Previous reports have these models priced at $199 and $299, so perhaps the company will continue sales of the iPhone 3G, but at a reduced price? No surprise, but Abramsky says that demand will increase if Apple is able to hit the $99 price point.

We've been down this road before and now just two weeks before WWDC, two new icons were discovered in the latest beta of the iPhone SDK. The two icons refer to "iPhone2,1" and there are both black and white versions of the icon. No doubt referring to black and white models of the forthcoming next generation iPhone. iPhone 3G is referred to as iPhone1,2, which would indicate the next generation iPhone is a major revision. However, recent rumors from those in know seem to indicate the design will largely remain the same. It appears that the next iPhone will be a powerhouse inside, with a faster processor and RAM boost, but will look similar to the current generation. The uncovering of this icon will just add more fuel to the fire. The next generation iPhone is coming, now it's a matter of where and when. WWDC?

The past few weeks have seen a fair share of rumors related to the next generation iPhone. Today comes an interesting blog post from Daring Fireball's John Gruber on what he expects from the next iPhone and you'd be hardpressed to find a more credible source, so odds are that his predictions will prove to be close to what we see from Apple in the coming weeks.
- Processor will get a bump from 400Mhz to 600 Mhz, making the iPhone 1.5 times faster than the first generation and the iPhone 3G. The speed bump will result in apps launching faster and faster web page rendering.
- RAM will double from 128MB to 256MB.
- Prices will remain at $199 and $299, but memory storage will double to 16GB and 32GB
- Hardware design will be very subtle. Cases that fit the current iPhone 3G will fit the new iPhone.
- Magnetometer (aka Compass) will be a new feature.
- Video will be a major new feature that Apple will be touting and will include basic video editing software
Going against the recent grain, Gruber expects Apple will announce the new iPhone at WWDC for a July release.

Apple is reportedly working on a "Media Pad" or Apple Tablet that will make it's debut in 2010. The Apple Tablet will usher in a new product that fits between the iPod touch and Apple's Mac Book laptops. The thinking behind the Media Pad is to create a device larger in size that is ideal for watching movies, reading books and for surfing the Internet. It will not be a full scale laptop, as to not cannibalize laptop sales.

It's still not clear if Apple will use their WWDC to announce the next generation iPhone or perhaps a special event in late June early July. Odds are certainly in favor a new iPhone sometime in the next few weeks or months. As such, we can expect the rumor cycle to start and today comes via AppleiPhoneApps (via Wired). They cite a source close to Apple's hardware team and offer up complete specifications of the next generation iPhone and a release date of July 17th.
- 32GB and 16GB storage (up from the current 16GB and 8GB models)
- $199 and $299 price points to be maintained
- 3.2-megapixel camera (up from the current 2-megapixel camera)
- Video-recording and editing capabilities
- Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
- Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
- OLED screen
- 1.5 times the battery life of the current models
- Double the RAM and processing power
- Built-in FM transmitter
- Apple logo on back will glow
- Rubber-tread backing
- Sleeker design
- Built-in compass
- The camera, GPS, compass and Google map combined will identify photo and inform about photo locations
- Turn-by-turn directions
Should you take this rumor with a grain of salt? Let's say you should keep the entire salt shaker out on this one.
