iPhone OS 3.0 Software Update Available June 17th

Apple today announced that iPhone OS 3.0 will be released to the general public on June 17th. iPhone OS 3.0 is available as a free upgrade for iPhone, iPhone 3G owners. iPod touch owners will need to pay $9.95 for the upgrade. The new upgrade offers over 100 new features with the most compelling being copy & paste, landscape keyboard, spotlight search, voice memos, improved calendar, enhanced stocks and the ability to purchase movies, TV shows and audio books directly from your iPhone.

MMS support is included in iPhone OS 3.0, but will AT&T will not offer support for this feature until late summer. MMS is only supported on the iPhone 3G and new iPhone 3G S. Tethering is also part of iPhone OS 3.0, but will not be available in the US. It's not clear if AT&T will offer support at a later date.
