SlingPlayer for iPhone Submitted to App Store
Posted by: Christopher Meinck on Mar 26, 2009
Since the iPhone was announced, Slingbox owners have been more than anxious to see a dedicated app for the iPhone. Over the past few years, SlingMedia has demonstrated a working app on the iPhone, yet for some reason it has never been submitted to the App Store. That's all changed today, as SlingMedia has announced that SlingPlayer for iPhone has been submitted to the App Store.
Now we just await the dreaded App Store approval process. The demo shown on SlingMedia's website shows only WiFi. Are they leaving out access via AT&T's data network for fear the app might not get approval based upon bandwidth usage? Platforms including BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Palm OS are not restricted to WiFi, so why should the iPhone? We should all find out soon enough. You can sign up for an email notification at Sling and they'll let you know when it's available. No word on pricing yet.
