This just in, the iPhone rocks and people love it. In a research note released today Charlie Wolf, an analyst for Needham, confirmed that Apple now owns 16.6% of the worldwide smartphone market. They are second only to Nokia, despite Nokia's inability to catch on in the US market.
Wolf believes strong sales of the iPhone 3G have been responsible for staving off a potential stall in the overall smartphone market. Apple is still 2nd in the US to RIM, with Apple owning 30% of the market versus the BlackBerry makers 40% share.
Windows Mobile has slipped to 17 percent and Palm continues it's slide to less than 10 percent. Palm is expected to release a new OS next year in effort to reverse flagging sales of their smartphones.
