AddressBookSync Updates Contacts Using Facebook

Posted by: Christopher Meinck

If happen to use a Mac, then chances are you are syncing your contacts with Address Book. Wouldn't it be great if there was an easy way to update your contact photos and birthday information? Well, if you are a Facebook user, you are in luck thanks to AddressBookSync.

This new Mac OS X app downloads Facebook profile pictures to your Address Book cards. Sync to your iPhone and now you've updated your photo caller ids for all of your Facebook friends. The process works quite well and took me a minute or so to secure photos some of my contacts. Due to Facebook terms and conditions, the author is unable to include phone numbers or email addresses. It does however support birthdays!

You can find out more and download AddressBookSync directly from the developer. By the way, if you use Facebook, why not join the EverythingiCafe group.

Try out the iPhone app FriendSync as a possible alternative, since FriendSync updates it right on your phone, instead of having to sync using a computer. Take out the middle man.

This is super rad, BUT it kinda blows that it makes tiny images of the friends synced. I like having the birthdays and option of freshly facebooked photos of everyone on my contact list, but would rather have the fullscreen photos of them that I hand-made for each of them.. ah well. Pretty cool tho.
