Yo, check the calendar, it’s summer and there are some hot apps lining the shelves of the App Store. This week, we take part in console quality combat, see which blush looks best, engage in disappearing group messages and still find time to raise the bottle. Yo, it’s time for the everythingiCafe apps of the week for June 21st, 2014.

Apps of the week

Released in early June, this minimalist social networking app has created quite a buzz this week. To say this app practices the principal of K.I.S.S. would be an understatement. This is a zero character, single tap way to communicate with friends, family and co-workers. Why let words get in the way, when you a simple “Yo” will do.

See, that’s all Yo does. There are no photos, no 140 character messages. Simply, Yo. Not since Flappy Birds has such a single purpose app become legend in a matter of days.

“One can not simply express the beauty of Yo in words. Yo may have a simple appearance, however, Yo was more than just a remedy for my sadness. It was a remedy for my entire life.”

“Te printing press. The plane. Yo. This app will go down in history as the greatest innovation of the 21st century.”

It’s worth noting that the graphics done on the Yo icon is some of the best we’ve seen.

You take on the role of titan Prometheus, attempting to steal the godfire spark, an unlimited source of power that is protected by the gods. You’ll partake in epic boss battles, as you roam freely through 7 diverse locations.

Godfire also supports iOS 7 compatible controllers. The sensational graphics are processor intensive, so this game should excel on the iPad Air and iPhone 5s.
