It’s time to wake up from that candy coma and see what’s happening in the App Store. So put down the KitKats and pick up your iPhone. This week, we run like a knitted sack, enjoy some feel good videos, play some gnarly retro games and find ourself surrounded by zombies. It’s time for the everythingiCafe apps of the week for November 3rd, 2014.
If you are a fan of the daytime show, you’ll love the new app from comedian and daytime host Ellen. Dubbed ellentube, this app provides you with access to only the best, funniest and cutest clips from the show. As a bonus for you cat people (and I count myself among them), the app has plenty of cat videos. If you have a unique talent, the app makes it easy to share it with Ellen.
The Ellen Show has over 10 million YouTube subscribers. Now those folks can skip YouTube and get their Ellen fill with this new app.
Run Sackboy! Run!
If you loved the LittleBigPlanet series on Playstation, this brings Sackboy to iOS in a runner that is reminiscent of Temple Run. You’ll play Sackboy, the beloved knitted character and you’ll need to run through a 3D-esque handcrafted world. You’ll come in contact with other characters from the LittleBigPlanet games. Along the way, you’ll earn stickers that add up to prize and exclusive costumes. As you explore, you’ll earn power ups and upgrades. Fans of the franchise are happy with how they handled the move to iOS.
Here’s what they’re saying in the App Store:
“It’s simple, colorful, rewarding and there are tons of collectibles.”
“Really captures LittleBigPlanet for iOS.”
“Playing on iPhone 6 Plus, this game looks and runs absolutely amazing.”
It might not be LittleBigPlanet, but this does bring your favorite characters to iOS in a game that’s highly entertaining. If you’re not an LBP fan, this still has appeal if you enjoy runner style games.

Inspired by the classic arcade games yesteryear, this retro-inspired classic brings everything you love about those quarter-eating boxes at a fraction of the cost. Our hero Dave Lonuts needs help staying alive in the face of an alien invasion. If tight control is what you crave, and any arcade gamer worth his salt demands it, you’ll be pleased to hear that Waoh Dave! supports MiFi controllers. The 8-bit soundtrack changes as you score points.
You’ll gather shiny pennies as you hurl alien eggs, skull bombs and WOAH blocks to core big. It may not be named Pac Mac, Asteroids or Centipede, but it certainly captures the spirit of those games.
“Woah Dave is a no frills, classic style platformer.”
“A game all about skill and getting hight scores, just like grandad used to make.”
It’s available now at a special launch price that guarantees no in-app purchases and future updates.

Audio Defence: Zombie arena
Zombie shooters are a dime a dozen and for good reason, there’s plenty of fun in gunning down hordes of zombies. This offers a refreshing take on shooters and the zombie genre. A blind warrior, you must rely on your keen listening skills before taking your shot. The game uses 3D binaural sound, so when paired with a good set of headphones, this can provide for an immersive audio gaming experience.
You’ll start with a pop-gun and quickly move to more powerful weapons as you make your way through 20 challenges. There are some reports of bugs in version 1.0, so you might want to wishlist this app and wait for 1.0.1. If you thought shooters were getting stale, strap on some headphones and put yourself in the middle of a zombie horde.
