Apple’s New Maps in iOS 6 Features Turn-By-Turn Navigation, Flyover

Apple has integrated their new mapping service into the Maps app, which had been currently powered by Google. The new Maps is integrated with Yelp. Maps has built-in turn-by-turn navigation. Using current iOS users, they will help monitor traffic, providing alternative routes along the way to avoid traffic. Maps is also integrated with Siri and can work from the lock screen.

Maps has a featured called ‘Flyover’. The new Maps features 3D models of cities. There are options like satellite view. The 3D renderings are done in real time.

This is new in iOS 6, will work on both the iPhone and iPad.

    I wonder if Apple is still using Google map services for the 3D maps… those look identical to the Google 3D maps we saw last week
