Apples Head Of iPhone Hardware Steps Down

Mark Papermaster, the guy in charge of iPhone and iPod hardware, has stepped down from his post at Apple. His official title was “Senior Vice President of Devices Hardware Engineering”, but he was widely known as the guy in charge of iPods and iPhones.

Papermaster was only in the position for a year and change, and is being replaced by Bob Mansfeld, the SVP of Mac Engineering.

Right now there’s no official response as to Papermaster’s resignation, whether its due to the iPhone 4′s antennae problems or not, or if Papermaster was asked to leave or went on his own. The only official statement from Apple was “Papermaster is leaving the company and Bob Mansfield, senior vice president of Macintosh hardware engineering, is assuming his responsibilities.”

On a totally unrelated not, Mark Papermaster has been reported missing by his family.

If anything, Steve should step down and take the blame, not this guy.

No one should loose their job in this economy, especially of a cell phone.

Regardless, I agree with the above poster…Steve should take all the heat. Especially for his many rude and inappropriate comments.
