Normally we avoid covering Apple patents because so much of what comes up will never see the light of day — however a newly awarded patent could prove to not only be incredibly useful, but might actually be used. We’ve always wondered why iOS devices don’t have a MagSafe style magnetically attached charger, a feature that we love on the MacBooks, but the prospect of interrupting data syncing is an unpleasant one. But with WiFi syncing just around the corner, iOS is ready for it!
Apple first applied for a patent on iOS MagSafe more than a year ago, and according to Patently Apple it has just been awarded.
Hopefully Apple has banked on this enough that it’s a feature we’ll see ASAP in iOS devices.
