Bloomberg is reporting that Apple has been in talks with a number of TV networks to get cut price shows into iTunes before the launch of the rumored iTV. Apparently Apple has sorted out a deal with News Corp (parents of Fox), and are in the process of creating a similar arrangement with CBS, NBC and Disney.
The rental service would be $0.99 an episode, and the shows would be available within 24 hours of broadcasting, with a 48 hour viewtime. The best part? Completely ad free.
The content deals would give Apple users access to some of the most-watched shows on TV and increase the appeal of its devices, including the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Adding programming also would build on iTunes’ role as the biggest retailer of music and mobile applications, and help Apple ward off companies like Netflix Inc., Amazon.com Inc. and Hulu LLC, which offer their own online video services.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumor that Apple is attempting to get more TV execs on board with iTunes, and it remains to be seen if they have sufficient pull to make it happen this time.

This must be for people with out cable. I pay for cable and a dvr so I don’t see a need to buy/rent tv shows when I can watch all I can watch for $4 a day on comcast. This would be a better buisiness model. .99 for a episode is to much considering you need cable Internet or dsl to even use this thing I’ll keep using media center on my pc.
Also a black or silver version would be a better fit for most people and why not make it thinner for rev2? I’m rambling!
