Apple Store Now Price Matching On iPhone Deals

Over the past few months, we’ve seen a number of retailers drop the price of the iPhone 4S, assumedly because a hardware refresh is in the works — most notably Sprint just dropped the price on all iPhone 4S models by $50. For the first time, it appears that Apple will be matching these price drops, but only in-store.

A source told MacRumors that Apple stores have been given the go ahead to match prices from certain, approved retailers and carriers. That means a $49.01 discount on the usual price of all the iPhone 4S models across the board.

This deal only works in-store, and not through online purchases, so you’ll have to hustle down to your local Apple Store to get the lower price.

That said, this is only really happening because of the upcoming new iPhone announcement. Buying one right now — even on a $50 discount — would be pretty foolish, as the next iteration is meant to have a pretty significant hardware boost.
