Apple Starts Selling Unlocked iPhone 5

Starting last night, Apple began offering the unlocked iPhone 5 online, with rumor of an in-store rollout in the near future. For now, if you head to buy an iPhone 5 online, you’re given the option of picking up one “unlocked and contract free.” As with previous years, this will set you back from $649 for the 16GB version, all the way on up to $849 for 64GB.

It appears that this is the GSM version only — so you Verizon users on CDMA are out of luck for now. Also, according to Engadget, this might be the same model of iPhone 5 that’ll only allow LTE inside Canada and the USA, leaving you without ultra high-speed access if you’re traveling abroad.
