Apple Releases $49 Lightning To Video Adapters

With the unveiling of two new iPads that use the Lightning port, Apple has also quietly updated its line of video adapters to take into account the new plug. Newly added to the Apple Store are the Lightning Digital AV Adapter and Lightning to VGA Adapter.

Both of these accessories will set you back $49, and will work with the iPad 4th gen, iPad mini, iPhone 5, or iPod touch (5th generation), and mirror content on any device with HDMI or VGA.

Unfortunately, the Lightning versions of these cables come at a premium. The previous dock connector versions would set you back a bit less — $39 and $29.

Apparently, Apple has also added a bit more power to the USB power adapter, which is now 12W instead of 10W.

Does this mean if you get a new iPad, your old iPad can be your media center. I like the sound of that.
