Apple has a long and storied past of patenting everything they can think of, regardless if they use it or not. Every once in a while, something will pop up that screams “why didn’t you think of this before?”, and we’ll all start salivating over it.
The 3G MacBook. I cannot believe that a) this could be patented, as there are already computers with this functionality, and b) that this isn’t already being produced. New MacBook air, anyone?
What the patent is actually for, is a new way of combining the antennae with the case of the computer. That worked so well with the iPhone 4, didn’t it? Regardless, I want to be able to throw my laptop onto a 3G/LTE network anywhere I go, as that would kick ass for mobile work.
