The official patent for iPad has now changed hands from Fujitsu to Apple. It’s unclear what occurred between the two companies to make this happen. Fujitsu previously had the patent for a Windows CE based device from 2002, and previously indicated that they were intent on maintaining their hold over the patent. According to Patent Authority,
“Apple initiated opposition proceedings challenging the validity of the mark in September last year. However, the proceedings never developed into anything substantive and Apple simply filed three requests for extensions of time, presumably while they were in talks with Fujitsu.”
