Apple iPhone 5 To Have 4 inch display?

The rumor winds continue to swirl surrounding the iPhone and today it’s the iPhone 5. DigiTimes claims that Apple will change the size of the iPhone 4 to “compete with the Google Android platform”. Component suppliers indicate that production lines for the new iPhone have begun and Apple is interested in jumping to a larger display size.

The Wall St. Journal reported we noted has been updated to include word that the new iPhone would feature an edge to edge display. Perhaps that is how Apple plans to expand the size of the display.

DigiTimes has a spotty track record, so we don’t know what to make of today’s report. The idea of a 4-inch edge to edge display certainly doesn’t sound bad.

  1. I think a bigger screen would be good but keeping the phone the same size.

  2. We’re in agreement. Same dimensions, all display. I think it would look amazing.

  3. Here is where the rumors really start to get out of control. We are just a few short months from the unveiling of the 2011 iPhone, and tech bloggers are trying to get the scoop about what the next phone will have. I still believe that just like years before, the rumors will far overshoot the actual product specs.

  4. A 4″ edge to edge screen on the new iPhone 5?! Sounds GREAT!!! Thrown in a 8 megapixel camera, 4G/LTE chipset and that would blow away any “competition”!!!

  5. If this happens it kind of makes sense that the new firmware updates might be having multiple finger swipe features…
