Apple Finalizing Purchase of Anobit

Apple has reportedly finalized purchase of flash-storage company Abobit according to Israeli news site Calcalist. 9to5Mac reports that a tweet from Israeli Prime Minister’s account either corroborates the story or simply responding to the news report.

Welcome to Israel, Apple Inc. on your 1st acquisition here. I’m certain that you’ll benefit from the fruit of the Israeli knowledge.

If the deal has been completed, the $400-$500 million dollar purchase price would make it the largest acquisition by Apple since NeXT.

iPhone, iPad, AppleTV. All are flash-based and Apple is moving in that direction with some of their laptops (MacBook Air). Purchasing a company that is known for manufacturing high quality flash-based memory certainly seems like a good move. Apple hasn’t announced anything as of yet regarding Anobit, but that announcement could come soon.
