Earlier this week we reported on a rumor that Apple may have picked up a small Bluetooth headset manufacturing firm called Wi-Gear. It appears now that that may not be the case. Tech Trader Daily tracked down the company’s CEO, Mark Pundsack, who said:

“The rumor is fals. Wi-Gear and its IP are still available for sale.”

The company is not presently operational.

Unfortunately, this appears to be a case of a small company collapsing under an economic recession rather than a buyout buy Apple. Still, Steve Jobs, if you’re reading this: wireless headphones are due for a revolution! You should totally get in on this!
