Building on the news of clearing regulatory hurdles from yesterday, Apple has officially announced the availability of the iPhone 5, iPad mini, and 4th gen iPad in China. No more will people have to get dodgy grey market imports from Hong Kong!
The useful bit of the press release is just a few lines long:
Apple® today announced the Wi-Fi versions of iPad® mini and fourth generation iPad with Retina™ display will be available in China on Friday, December 7, and iPhone® 5 will be available on Friday, December 14.
There isn’t any indication of when the LTE versions of the iPad will be available, and also no official word of the cost — but I assume it’ll be in line with previous generations of the device.
The last few years have seen Apple put a large amount of effort into the Chinese market, so hopefully the iPhone 5 will prove as popular there as some previous iterations of their devices have been.
