Amongst some tech blogs, as soon as the online Apple store goes down, and presents us with that familiar yellow sticky note, it’s cause for a news post. While us classy folks at EiC tend to avoid being quite that easily excited, our hearts have been known to skip a beat at the thought of a juicy new MacBook being quietly released.
Now, that yellow sticky note that told us “we’ll be back soon” has been replaced with what you see above, a clean, white slate on a light-grey textured background. This was first spotted last night when the store went down and then came back without appreciable changes.
What’s interesting, is that this is a move away from the skeuomorphism that has defined many of Apple’s recent releases, including the changes to apps like Calendars and Contacts. Maybe Apple will soon realize there’s no real need to anchor its software in fake leather texture.
