The Apple Store has long had a section of their store where you could purchase refurbished products. They come in non-descript packaging, but are every bit as a completely new product. Often they are returns where a customer simply decided on a different product or in some cases, Apple has repaired the product to meet factory specifications. In what appears to be an Apple authorized venture, a new retailer on eBay with the username refurbished_outlet is offering Apple Certified Refurbished Products. This sounds as if Apple is selling on eBay, but without sullying their brand. There’s appears to be a definitive association and non-association tied to this store.
They are offering products from Apple’s iPad, MacBook and iPod lines. Pricing is exactly the same as the Apple Store and include the following:
- Full one-year warranty
- Returned to like-new condition
- iPads/iPods include a new battery
- Received complete burn-in testing
- Original iOS re-installed
- Repackaged with manual and cable
- Final quality inspection by Apple
With the resale market exploding, this makes sense for Apple. A good number of people make their way to eBay looking for values on Apple products. Setting up shop there will help Apple expand their refurbished business. When you sell the number of products they do, the offset of that is having to manage return inventory. An eBay store will certainly help the cause.

So has anyone confirmed whether it’s apple or not?
I’ve updated the article with a link to the store on eBay.
