Apple Cellphone

Since the days of the Newton, Apple fans have wanted them to release a PDA. Over the years, PDA's have morphed into cellphones making them "smartphones". Fans of Apple have been clamoring for an Apple cellphone. A device that would handle all your contacts, calendar and appointments in true Apple fashion. An Apple cellphone was attempted with the Motorola ROKR, but it was met with lukewarm reception by press and Apple devotees.

Apple Cellphone Carriers

According to the latest reports, the Apple cellphone will be available on all carriers. There are two major networks in the United States:

  • CDMA
  • GSM
  • GSM is prevalent throughout the world, so making a GSM Apple cellphone makes the most sense. Cingular and T-Mobile are GSM carriers. It was orginally rumored that Cingular would be the first to carry the Apple cellphone. With this latest report, we'll also see a release on Sprint and Verizon.

    iPod phone

At the core of the Apple cellphone will be an iPod. According to the patents filed by Apple, the iPhone will feature an iPod Nano exterior with a slide-out keyboard. The iPod phone will use an interface common to the iPod. This new iPod Phone resembles the Chocolate cellphone released by LG. Specifications and the release date for the new Apple cellphone are still sketchy. Discuss this in our iPhone forums.
