Apple Admits Verizon iPad 3G Connection Problems, Is Investigating

We recently heard word that a number of users of the Verizon edition of the iPad 2 were having trouble with their 3G data connections. According to those complaining, when their data plan is set up with Verizon, the iPads appear to switch over to roaming, and won’t go on to 3G unless “data roaming” is turned off in the settings. Some users are even reporting that if 3G is turned off when they power down their iPad it isn’t able to get back on, and that the 3G has to be turned on again, and the iPad restarted to regain the connection.

Thankfully, Apple appears to be aware of the problem, saying:

“We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it.”

This might be one of the bug fixes expected in iOS 4.3.2.
