Apple have picked up online music streamer Lala, providers of cloud stored music that you can buy for $0.10 per song. Lala hit the news recently, when they entered a deal with Google that showed their music whenever you performed a musical search. The dime for a song method stores your music in the cloud, where it can then be streamed to any device for playback.
According to the NY Times, Lala’s licenses for streaming music with the major music labels are not transferable to any acquirer, so Apple may be more interested in picking them up for their engineers, and knowledge of streaming media. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens, who knows if we’ll see streaming iTunes or what in the future.
