All sorts of analytical groups have been crunching numbers from all the Christmas gifts that got handed out, and it looks like smart devices are still growing at an insane rate, and that iOS devices are still doing incredibly well.
Flurry Analytics is saying that 17.4 million iOS and Android devices were activated on Christmas — up from 4 million a day for the rest of the month. They don’t break it down by platform, but it was 6.8 million the year before — a 250% boost.
Distimo says that App Store downloads were up 87% over the rest of the month. Last year was even bigger, with a 230% spike on Christmas day, but it’s still nothing to scoff at.
Chitika showed that the iPad still massively controls web-impressions for tablets. A full 87% of North American tablet web traffic comes from the iPad. For every 100 iPad impressions, the nearest competitor is the Kindle Fire, with 4.88 impressions (4.25% of traffic), followed by the Samsung Galaxy line, with 2.65% of traffic. It’s still an iPad world out there.
