AmazonBasics is Amazon’s house brand of cut price accessories, offering things like cables and bags on the cheap. Interestingly, they’ve now started offering Lightning Cables, too — but you can bet that these aren’t okayed by Apple.
AmazonBasics have a reputation for being affordable and pretty damned good — something like what you’d see from Monoprice. However, at $15, these Lightning cables are not a huge amount less expensive than the $19 you’ll pay for an official Apple one. While I’ve never had trouble with an AmazonBasics product before, with such a new format, you have to wonder if it might not be worth sucking up the extra $4 for now.
According to 9to5Mac, these cables appeared briefly on Amazon, then were pulled — but they now seem to be back online.
